Dakota 911 Public Safety Dispatch

Dakota 911 is the public safety dispatch center that answers all emergency and non-emergency telephone calls in Dakota County.

Call 9-1-1 (Emergencies)
Residents should dial 9-1-1 any time they need police, fire, or medical personnel to respond. 

  • Call 9-1-1 for any situation that requires a police officer, such as traffic accidents, burglaries, property damage, parking complaints, or ordinance violations. 
  • Call 9-1-1 to request an ambulance, receive medical assistance, report a fire, or report signs of a fire such as smoke or fire alarms. 
  • Call 9-1-1 to report suspicious or criminal activity, such as shouts for help, breaking glass, or suspicious vehicles or people.

General Inquiries (Non-Emergencies)

Apple Valley residents with informational questions or questions regarding ordinances, reports, investigations, persons under arrest, impounded vehicles, or impounded animals can contact the Apple Valley Police Department at (952) 953-2700, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm (excluding holidays). Residents with informational questions after hours should contact Dakota 911 at (952) 322-2323 and ask for an Apple Valley Police Sergeant to return your call.
